The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has unveiled its manifesto, termed the ‘Adhikar Patra,’ ahead of the 2024 assembly elections. The 22-page document, released by party leader Dishom Guru Shibu Soren, outlines key promises for Jharkhand’s farmers, women, local communities, and underprivileged groups. Among its major pledges, the JMM proposes interest-free agricultural loans and increased welfare support for agricultural laborers, signaling a strong focus on rural upliftment.
The manifesto underscores Jharkhand’s identity and prioritizes local rights, referencing the “Khatian of 1932” as a symbol of the region’s unique heritage. It also commits to simplifying caste and residential certificate processes for displaced communities, to process all applications within six months of the JMM’s potential government formation.
In education, employment, and social welfare, JMM promises 27% reservation for backward classes, 28% for tribals, and 12% for Dalits. If elected, the party has pledged to reverse the 2017 Land Acquisition Act amendment and establish a dedicated Ministry of Backward Classes Welfare. A prominent social initiative outlined is the Jharkhand Chief Minister Mainiya Samman Yojana, which promises a monthly income of ₹2,500 for adult women starting December 2024.
Healthcare initiatives include the Abua Health Security Scheme, which will offer free treatment up to ₹15 lakh, and a goal to construct 25 lakh houses under the Abua Housing initiative. Additionally, JMM vows to protect state employees’ old pensions and recover New Pension Scheme (NPS) funds from the central government. Lastly, the party promises to establish a Sports University to enhance sports opportunities across the state.
